One of the most effective ways to reduce stress is to be in a calming environment.

Even if you don't spend most of the day at home, it's the home you're happy to return to relax. In this article, we share eight ways you can turn your home into a haven of relaxation that will make you feel less stressed, happier, and more relaxed.

1. Use of colors in neutral tones

Research has shown that bright and highly saturated colors increase mental arousal. On the other hand, cooler colors that are less contrasting and more subdued have a calming effect on our mind. In order to create a relaxing environment, it is advisable to keep the color of the furniture neutral. There are many variations of neutral colors that can be mixed and matched to create a calm and refreshing look.

2. The use of plants in the facility

One way to create an atmosphere of relaxation is to use plants in the decor. In addition to improving appearance, plants can help reduce stress and promote well-being and a sense of relaxation.

3. Lighting adjustment

Some simple ways to influence the atmosphere of a room:

  • Candles : Candles can quickly transform a room into a comfortable atmosphere and help calm the mind and senses. They are not only used for lighting, but can also give off a pleasant smell through the use of scented candles, which exactly suits your taste and needs.
  • Natural Lighting : A room with natural light has been shown to have a calming effect and promote productivity. To create this feeling of relaxation and joy, let in as much natural light as possible during the day, for example by opening curtains or blinds.
  • Lamps with soft lighting : LED lamps in warm tones can create an atmosphere similar to candles or a fireplace.
  • A fireplace : A log fire can greatly change the mood of the room and create a cozy atmosphere. If a real fireplace is not available, an electric fireplace can be a good alternative to achieve a similar effect.

Clearing out the living area

A tidy and decluttered living area will help the atmosphere feel more relaxed. Remove unnecessary items and pay attention to what things are placed where to create a minimalist and orderly environment. This helps you feel less constrained and more comfortable.

How about aromatherapy?

There are many essential oils that are good for relaxation and calming, such as lavender, chamomile, sandalwood, and vanilla. It's important to pay attention to which oils work best for your personal needs and to use them in a safe way. Aromatherapy can be an effective addition to a relaxed home, helping you feel more comfortable and relaxed.

Another way to bring the benefits of aromatherapy into your home is by mixing essential oils in a diffuser. This method is particularly suitable for smaller rooms in which you want to use the oils in a targeted manner. You can also use special aromatherapy scented candles that are already scented with essential oils. Just pick a scent that relaxes and soothes you and enjoy the effect in your living room or bedroom.

6. Add comfortable elements

Small changes like pillows or blankets can work wonders. We know that you can't avoid stress all your life, but getting away from it all from time to time is very pleasant for the body and mind. And it is precisely such accessories that can give the room a calming atmosphere.

7. Soothing Music

A quick way to improve the mood of the room is to play some soothing music. This can be jazz, lo-fi, classical music, background music, or instrumental music that will help you relax.

8. Put electronic devices away

A recommendation to relax a room is to remove electronic devices such as cell phones or televisions from the room. These can be a distraction and make you feel like you're always available. If you feel like you're constantly checking your phone, you can take one last look before entering the relaxation area and then put your phone aside for a while. Give yourself a break and remember that any messages or emails you received will still be there when you return.

While you don't have to follow all of our tips, you can still quickly transform your home into a place of relaxation.
